Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee
Voluntary Student Fees
The Associated Student Government of Bellevue College may impose voluntary student fees as authorized by Washington State law (RCW 28B.15.610). These fees are intended for "student purposes only".
Currently there are five (5) voluntary student fees that Bellevue College students pay each quarter:

Student Technology Fee (STF)

The primary purpose of the funds collected through the STF is to advance the mission of Bellevue College by making broad-based technologies readily accessible to students.​

This fee is collected at $3.50 per credit, up to a maximum of ten credits ($35.00 per quarter).

Student Environmental Sustainability Fee (SESF)

The primary purpose of the funds collected through the SESF is to advance the mission of Bellevue College by providing funding for projects, offices, and programs that promote sustainability and environmental responsibility efforts on campus. ​

This fee is collected at $1.00 per credit, up to a maximum of ten credits ($10.00 per quarter).

Commuter Reduction Fee

This fee covers the college parking garage debt and subsidizes student bus passes. ​

This fee is collected at $1.70 per credit, up to a maximum of ten credits ($17.00 per quarter).

Comprehensive Fee
-
This fee covers a variety of services including Public Safety, Transportation Management, Unofficial Transcripts, and the creation of the College Catalog.​

This fee is collected at $1.50 per credit, up to a maximum of ten credits ($15.00 per quarter).

Student Legislative Advocacy Fee

NOTE: This fee was voted on and passed by students during the Spring 2024 ASGBC General Election. The administration and the ASGBC are currently working on this fee and expect collection to begin by Winter Quarter 2025.

The primary purpose of the funds collected through the SLAF is to promote students' interest and involvement in legislative advocacy and civic engagement for the betterment of all students at Bellevue College.​

This fee is collected at a flat rate of $3.00 per student each quarter.

The Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee
The Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee is responsible for overseeing all voluntary student fees, but especially fees that do not have a committee dedicated to their oversight. This committee shall review the collection rate, purpose, expenditures, and student impact of all fees annually in order to ensure that the fees are being utilized for student purposes only, and that the fees are adhering to the documents that established and govern the fee.
The Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee may make recommendations to the ASGBC Board of Directors concerning the increase, reduction, or elimination of any voluntary student fee, as well as recommend amendments to update language, contracts, or other documents establishing any voluntary student fee.

The ASGBC Board of Directors officially established the Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee through Board Bill 04-01-53 on June 14th, 2024. The committee was officially adopted into the ASGBC Bylaws through the passing of Board Bill 01-01-04 on June 14th, 2024
The voting membership of the Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee shall consist of the following individuals:

The ASGBC Director of Finance who shall serve as Chair.

The ASGBC President
-
The ASGBC Chief of Administration
-
One (1) ASGBC Student Senator appointed by the ASGBC President
-
Three (3) students-at-large appointed by the ASGBC President.

The Dean of Student Life and Leadership

The Vice President of Administrative Services ​
The non-voting membership of the Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee shall consist of the following individuals:

The Executive Director of Finance (or designee).

Meetings
The Voluntary Student Fee Oversight Committee shall meet at least twice per quarter (excluding summer). All meetings are open to the public, and dates will be published on this page as they are scheduled. Meeting dates are subject to change.
